The Time Management Trap

Happy Day 3 of Fall! 🍂 Cue the pumpkin-flavored coffee.

As a business owner, planning for the future — especially in the face of uncertainty — can be extremely challenging. If you are a senior leader or business owner, you might appreciate these tips from a futurist on preparing your company for change. I know I did. Spoiler alert: change is the new normal. So the better we can become at making business decisions with imperfect information, the more likely our chance of success.

For me this has meant changing our organizational structure, implementing Focus Fridays and crafting a return to work policy that fits both our employees’ and our clients’ needs. What about you?

Speaking of change, the advent of fall presents us with a natural opportunity to reflect. Earlier this week, I unexpectedly lost a dear, long-time friend; gone way too soon. I’ve been reflecting on the memories made, lamenting her passing as well as the time that I let slip by since our last visit. So this is your reminder to tell someone you love them, call the person you’ve been missing, check on that family member you haven’t seen in a while. You never know when the chance will be gone. In the meantime, I’ll be drawing on the wisdom of Dr. Seuss and keep the good memories close: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

Warmly,
