Looking for fun ways to enjoy socially-distant outings with loved ones? Us too. From New York to St. Louis and Chicago, we went on the hunt for creative activities to inspire us to get out of the house and make some memories this fall. Highlights from the midwest below.
Drive-in Movies
Drive-in movie theatres have recently seen a surge in attendance during the pandemic. Staying in your car and watching a classic flick may make your Friday nights feel normal again. With parking spaces at least 6 feet apart, this family activity is perfect for a safe evening out of the house. Pro tip: use the restroom beforehand if possible.
Farmers Markets
Farmers Markets are becoming more and more popular due to their open-air environments. Attending a local farmers market is a great way to support local and small businesses while getting your grocery shopping done. Look out for markets that are practicing safety measures.
The Boulevard Farmers Market in partnership with Tower Grove is on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through October 25th. Hear live music and support local farmers and artisans selling everything from produce to ice cream to dog treats, jewelry and everything in between. There is something for everyone.
Burr Ridge Village Center Farmers Market is an open-air destination on the Village Green featuring produce and other products from Brookhaven Market and local finds from honey, to coffee, microgreens and more.
Orchards
What is more fall than picking apples or going to a pumpkin patch? Check out the below orchards and pumpkin patches in the St. Louis area. Make sure to call ahead or book online for a reservation as they are limiting the number of guests allowed in at a time to ensure safety.
