Project Management Tools We Can’t Live Without

Here at KMG, we pride ourselves on being a go-to resource for our clients regarding tools and software that help them navigate the swiftly-changing marketing landscape.

There are several popular options for project management and tasking tools. While they vary in design, user experience (UX), and customized options, you can often find that one feels the “best” for you and your team. Let’s cover a few of them:

Trello

If your project management love languages include “simple” and “minimal,” then Trello may be a fit for you. Set up in a Kanban-style of cards, lists, and to-dos, Trello is easy to navigate if you are visually stimulated. Trello also offers “Butler,” an AI tool that helps you automate certain pieces of your work. Like Airtable, Trello can integrate with other apps and syncs immediately across all devices. A major plus about Trello is that you can have both private and public (to your team, but also to the actual public internet) boards, allowing you to collaborate on projects with almost anyone.

A downside to Trello is that it can feel clunky at times, and tagging specific coworkers on individual tasks can be cumbersome. Some users may feel that its UX is a bit rudimentary and elementary, and might look elsewhere for a cleaner, more “professional” feel. But because of its easy-to-learn UX, we found Trello helpful for tracking projects and sharing current, upcoming, or finished to-dos throughout our team.

Asana

Lovers of lists will likely prefer Asana (but, there’s also a Kanban board style, too!). Checking off tasks might be the most fun in Asana, too—there’s an option that shoots colorful unicorns (and other fun creatures) across your screen with every few major tasks marked as “finished.” Asana also recently introduced automation to its tool, allowing users to streamline processes further. Asana’s pricing structure is similar to Airtable’s, and they also offer a free option. Here at KMG, we liked Asana’s airy appearance, list style, and the ability to mark projects’ status clearly. Curious how a product launch is going? Asana allows you to mark it in review, approved, and more.

Toggl Plan

Our team here at KMG has been using Toggl for a while now to track our time on our projects, but when we learned about Toggl Plan, we had to make the switch. Instead of trying to integrate Toggl’s tracking with another app, Toggl Plan makes it easy to track and manage your projects all in one place, with its built-in timer ticking away. This makes reporting easier for managers and teams alike to make sure their work is done on-time and with transparency. Drag, drop—no problem!

While there are dozens of other tools out there, these are just a few of the most popular that we have direct experience with.
